27-yr old Corp Member evacuates 3-kilometre drainage in Damaturu says, Yobe deserves more.
A 27-yr old Batch C Stream ii Corp Member, Tarzoho Terhemen who was posted to Yobe State for 1 year mandatory service has evacuated more than 3-kilometre of drainage system in Damaturu as part of his Community Development Service (CDS).
An indigene of Benue State, the Corp Member started the evacuation from Jerusalem junction (opposite Damaturu LG Secretariat) to Zadiya Hotel junction and is heading to Commissioner’s quarters.
Mr Terhemen who has so far spent 3 weeks doing the difficult job despite the scorching sun said, it is a complementary service to his host community looking at how residents around the affected areas are susceptible to infections from mosquitoes and other insects.
According to him, some residents are dumping waste in the system which clogs the drainage and prevents the flow of water during raining season causing it to overflow.
Such situation he said create very unsanitary conditions for residents and increase waterborne diseases.
The action of the Corp Member is equally critical to the fight against COVID-19.
